Event Overview

We’re proud to announce Iron Island’s Strongest in the City, alongside the fan-favorite Run the City, taking place on Sunday, February 16th at The Zone by FOA. This exciting day will test athletes in endurance, speed, and strength, with three distinct events: a short run, a long-distance run, and a weightlifting competition. Whether you’re looking to sprint, go the distance, or showcase your power, there’s something for everyone. Athletes can choose to enter one, two, or all three events.

The day kicks off with running heats starting at 7 am and lifting heats beginning at 8:30 am. Spectators and athletes can enjoy food, coffee, and pre-workout shots provided by Sports Nutrition Hub, as well as an incredible calisthenics showcase hosted by SLSWCA, featuring demonstrations, workshops and open challenges for all the family!

Event Details

Perfect for those who love a quick sprint, this run is a single lap of the block
surrounding The Zone. It’s fast, intense, and all about giving your best effort from start to finish.

Distance: 1.8 kilometers (one lap of the block around The Zone)

Minimum Age:
16

Prizes: First-place male and female winners will take home the prize.

For runners who want to push their endurance, this longer challenge takes you
around three laps of the block. It’s a true test of pace and stamina as you aim for the finish line.

Distance: 5.4 kilometers (three laps of the block around The Zone)

Minimum Age: 16

Prizes: First-place male and female winners will be awarded prizes.

Minimum Age: 16

A thrilling showcase of strength, the weightlifting event has two parts:

Part A: 3-Rep Max Shoulder-to-Overhead

Athletes will have 8 minutes to complete their heaviest three-rep lift. Any style is allowed,
including strict press, push press, push jerk, split jerk, or a combination. Your score will be the heaviest weight successfully lifted for three reps.

Part B: 3-Rep Max Deadlift

Immediately following Part A, athletes will transition to an 8-minute window to achieve their heaviest three-rep deadlift. Bars do not need to be stripped between parts.

Scoring: Your final score is the combined total of your heaviest lift from Part A and Part B. For example, if your heaviest shoulder-to-overhead is 60 kg and your deadlift is 120 kg, your total score would be 180 kg.

Prizes: First-place winners will be determined by the highest combined totals for male and female athletes.

Recommendation: This event is best suited for athletes with prior experience in barbell lifting.
